You might find the Eye Consultants of Texas logo displayed in an unexpected place these days, like on the side of a dragster. But it’s not just any dragster because the driver is years away from getting his license.
Regan and Aaron Jordan are two top junior drag racing drivers, and Eye Consultants of Texas is a sponsor of their team, Jordan Racing. Regan will enter the 7th grade Fall 2011, and his brother Aaron will be a 3rdgrader. Both have been A/B honor roll students at River Trails Elementary in Fort Worth. We discovered Regan and Aaron as they’re the nephews of our our Billing Supervisor Melanie Boyd.
Jordan Racing is an entire operation managed by Dad, Justin Jordan. The cars Regan and Aaron drive are scaled down versions of larger dragsters. These smaller dragsters don’t come close to reaching speeds of the “big boys,” but they can go up to 85 mph. As Dad Justin will attest, it takes a lot of training, skill and responsibility to drive one. “Safety is always first, and I wouldn’t let them drive if they didn’t strictly follow the rules,” he says. “You have to be careful and responsible in order to win, and I’m more proud of the things my sons learn from this experience that are beyond racing.”
To date, Regan has 13 victories and several top finishes. Aaron has 5 victories to his credit and his share of top finishes as well. From February through November, they race every weekend, often as part of the Southwest Junior Drag Racing Series. The boys mainly race locally in Kennedale, Denton and regionally in Texas, yet they’ve also traveled to Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and as far away as Denver. In fact, they’ve competed in races televised on ESPN, SPEED and MAV-TV with up to 20,000 spectators.
Eye Consultants of Texas got involved after learning about the perseverance and dedication Regan and Aaron put into their racing, while still maintaining good grades in school. This is a unique community sponsorship opportunity, and we’re proud to offer our support.
