RayOne EMV Lens

The RayOne EMV is an FDA-approved intraocular lens (IOL) designed for cataract patients that require an increased range of high-quality distance, intermediate, and near vision with less dependency on glasses when configured as mini-monovision or true monovision.

Developed by Rayner, which produced the world’s first IOL in 1949, the RayOne EMV is the first and only lens of its kind, revolutionizing monovision results for patients worldwide.

“EMV” stands for “Enhanced Monovision.” Where monovision increases your distance, intermediate and near vision, the RayOne EMV is designed to extend your depth of focus for higher quality, uninterrupted vision throughout the entire intermediate and distance visual range.

Phillips Kirk Labor, MD, Eye Consultants of Texas founder and chief surgeon, is the first in North America to implant the RayOne EMV. He is also a key opinion leader Rayner consults with on this lens, starting with helping to ensure its effectiveness for FDA approval.

RayOne EMV Advantages

  • Patented optic profile uniquely extends your range of vision, allowing the depth of field (focus from near to far) of many presbyopia correcting IOLs.
  • Smoother, blended transition between the dominant and non-dominant eyes when compared to monovision using standard monofocal lenses.
  • Affordable intermediately priced option compared to multifocal and/or EDOF IOLs.
  • Designed to allow for clearer vision in low-light conditions with potential to increase your vision quality for near activities.

Another unique feature of this lens is that it comes pre-loaded in an injector requiring the world’s smallest incision for IOL implantation. What does this mean to you? A smaller incision reduces your surgery and recovery time, which can improve your surgery outcome.

Before your procedure, a doctor will help determine your two different IOL powers that individually provide single focal points, yet work together to improve your functional everyday vision. The RayOne EMV is implanted during cataract surgery like any monofocal IOL to further improve this vision.

Eye Consultants of Texas is proud to offer this amazing lens as part of our continued commitment to making the latest, most effective advancements available to each and every patient.
