A toric lens is often thought of as a type of contact lens. Another type of toric lens we offer at Eye Consultants of Texas is implanted via a simple surgical procedure: the AcrySof® IQ Toric IOL (intraocular lens). The AcrySof IQ is a newer, more advanced toric lens implant developed primarily for cataract patients.

Toric lenses are designed for anyone with a significant amount of astigmatism, which means the cornea is irregularly shaped causing blurred vision. The AcrySof IQ Toric IOL was developed to more precisely correct corneal astigmatism. It can reduce glare or visual disturbances commonly associated with cataracts, but can also improve distance and possibly intermediate vision as well.
