Epi-Clear

Also known as Epi-Bowman Keratectomy (EBK), Epi-Clear is a procedure we use designed to remove the tissues that cover the front of the cornea, called corneal epithelium. The Epi-Clear procedure is known for its uniform and controlled process. It’s performed prior to laser treatment to help achieve a safer, more accurate outcome.

Types of Lasers

Within our state-of-the-art Grapevine facility, we perform LASIK and PRK using the WaveLight® Refractive Suite. This represents the most advanced state-of-the-art technology available anywhere in the U.S., integrating two specific types of lasers to deliver optimal results:

WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser: Utilized in the first step of the LASIK procedure, the Wavelight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser boasts the world’s fastest flap creation times for more precise outcomes. It combines low-pulse energy and a unique cutting pattern for creating accurate flaps, uses a beam control check, and accommodates for variables like temperature shift. Its ergonomic design, from high-quality microscope, to adjustable joystick and 3-axis laser arm, allows the doctor perform with more efficiency. Notable benefits of this laser include:

  • Low Energy and High Precision
  • Ultrafast Treatment
  • Automated vacuum control for consistent suction
  • Automated Daily Calibration (Increased Safety)
  • Mandatory Patient Calibration on Every Procedure
  • Multi-functional Capabilities

WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser: Utilized in the second step of the LASIK procedure to reshape the cornea, the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser’s speed results in the world’s shortest treatment times. This innovative laser has the ability to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. Precision and safety are two key features with this new laser. An improved eye tracking system allows the laser to monitor eye movements throughout the procedure, which ensures the laser treatment is applied as planned.

The WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser represents the cutting edge of LASIK and PRK surgery technology today, with notable benefits that include:

  • Integrated Heads-Up Display
  • Projector with LED light source
  • High-resolution video system
  • Built-in, non-contact, online pachymetry
  • Sealed beam path
  • Onboard nitrogen generator

Contoura® Vision

Contoura® Vision, also referred to as topography-guided LASIK, is a brand new technology recently approved by the FDA. Contoura® Vision combines traditional LASIK techniques with a highly-advanced analysis of 22,000 elevation points on the cornea. This allows the doctor to create a customized procedure unique to each patient for that patient’s best outcome. In addition, this specialized LASIK treatment can open doors for patients who may not qualify for other types of LASIK.

Patient outcomes have been extremely successful, with 92% of trial patients reporting 20/20 vision, or better, just 1 year after receiving Contoura® Vision LASIK.

If you’re considering any type of LASIK treatment, we invite you to contact us for a consultation. You can call our Grapevine office at 817-410-2030, or schedule your consultation online. Our doctors can determine if you’re a candidate and explain your options in a way that’s easy to understand.
