First and Only Lens That Can be Customized After Cataract Surgery

RX light adjustable lens

Introducing the Light Adjustable lens

The RxSight® Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL) is the first and only FDA-approved intraocular lens that can be customized to your specific visual needs after cataract surgery. Eye Consultants of Texas was one of 17 sites across the country selected to implant the LAL during FDA clinical trials. Once it received FDA approval, Dr. Labor was the first Dallas-Fort Worth eye surgeon to implant this revolutionary lens, and is considered one of its top U.S. authorities today.

"I think the best thing about the light adjustable lens is just the fact that I don't have to wear glasses anymore. It's just a sense of freedom."

Customize Your Vision

Another unique advantage of this lens: it can be used to treat presbyopia as well as astigmatism during cataract surgery for patients with both of these conditions.

Before the LAL was available, doctors had to adjust for vision quality after surgery with glasses, contact lenses, or through further surgery. The Light Adjustable Lens is a game-changer in that you and Dr. Labor can preview and adjust your vision to your own personal visual requirements, after the lens is already implanted.

Test Drive Your New Vision

Here’s how it works. After surgery, and your eye has healed, you’ll come in for a series of light treatment procedures Dr. Labor performs in the comfort of our office (rather than the operating room). At your first visit, your vision is checked. This is where you can preview and compare possible vision outcomes based on your own unique requirements. Once your “prescription” is selected, Dr. Labor customizes these light treatments to precisely reshape your lens to that exact prescription. Typically this involves 4 to 5 treatments over 4 to 6 weeks. Each takes only a few seconds and there is no discomfort.

What sets the Light Adjustable Lens Apart?

Special Material

Using a special lens material designed by a Nobel Prize winning scientist, RxSight has developed the first intraocular lens (IOL) that allows you and your physician to optimize your vision following cataract surgery.

High Success Rates

Despite numerous advances in modern cataract surgery technologies, only 6 out of 10 cataract patients achieve their targeted vision, and an even smaller percentage achieve excellent vision at all distances.¹ This is because it is very difficult to predict how your eye will heal before your cataract surgery.

Custom Results

With the Light Adjustable Lens, you can now customize your vision after your cataract surgery. You will have the unique ability to adjust and preview your vision based on your personal desires and lifestyle requirements. This optimization is done by your eye doctor after lens implantation through a series of office-based light treatment procedures that take only a few minutes each.

Unmatched Outcomes

The Light Adjustable Lens delivers superior visual outcomes that non-adjustable IOLs cannot match.² In a study of 600 subjects, those who received the Light Adjustable Lens followed by adjustments were twice as likely to achieve 20/20 distance vision at 6 months without glasses as those who received a standard monofocal IOL.
