The enVista Envy intraocular lens (IOL) is a newer, next-generation IOL we now offer to our cataract patients based on the proven enVista architecture platform. The Envy IOL features two distinct technologies in the design of its optic: ActivSync and Clear Path. These were developed to enhance image contrast, which evenly distributes light in photopic (normal daylight) conditions, and prioritizes distance vision in mesopic (twilight, dusk, and other low light) conditions.
The Envy IOL’s unique design provides a more robust and complete range of vision from distance to near to help maintain an excellent full range of vision in all lighting conditions. This makes the Envy a great lens for using smartphones, working at your desktop computer, reading, driving, or enjoying outdoor sports.
Can Treat Presbyopia and Astigmatism
We offer a version of this lens designed to correct presbyopia, as well as a presbyopia-correcting toric version to treat astigmatism. The Envy is taking IOL innovation forward while avoiding certain side effects commonly found with similar type lenses on the market today.
TruSight® Technology
The Envy is a hydrophobic lens made of glistening-free acrylic material. Hydrophobic lenses are designed to decrease the risk of post-operative complications and have been used for many years. The Envy’s TruSight® technology features improved scratch resistance and provides 25-times the hardness of traditional hydrophobic acrylic IOLs.
StableFlex® Technology
StableFlex® allows the IOL to unfold more quickly, smoothly and completely. This leads to better recovery of the optic to its desired shape, more efficiency in the operating room, and less surgical time. The less surgical time required typically means better post-operative outcomes.
SureEdge® Design
The Envy’s proprietary design provides outstanding defense against Posterior Capsular Opacification (PCO). In simple terms, PCO is a side-effect that occurs as the eye heals after surgery. PCO can lead to reduced visual sharpness, haziness, glare, haloes, and star bursting around point sources of light (particularly at night). This is known as a “secondary cataract” which, if significant, requires laser treatment to help restore your vision to before the PCO occurred. The Envy’s SureEdge design helps to slow PCO formation or prevent it altogether.
AccuSet Haptics
As part of their design, all IOLs include “haptics” to help stabilize the IOL once it has been implanted. The Envy’s own “AccuSet” haptics serve to more firmly and securely anchor the IOL in position as it heals inside your eye. This is particularly important for toric (astigmatism correction) to ensure and maintain an accurate outcome for your best vision after surgery.
